125. Tennessee

by Alice - Metarie, Louisiana

Oh Lord, help me so
My daughter cried in the contra flow

She's in her SUV
She's right there in front of me

We all drove in harmony
As we left from Metarie

The red necks laughed at us as we
Drove through their land on to Tennessee

We tried to run -- we had to go
Away from I-10, and below

Oh Lord, help me so
My daughter cried in the contra flow

It turned out real bad, you know
Back to our homes, we could not go

That old storm did us in
Felt like the world would end

Now we think that we will go
Far and away from the Gulf of Mexico

Close my eyes and all I see
Is my daughter right in front of me

Driving on to Tennessee
