7. Translating Bush's Speech As He Cuts His Long Vacation Short

by Tony Peyser - Studio City, California

In California, the President said, "We have got a lot of work to do."
(Can't I stay here at the ranch? My brush clearing isn't through.)

"Our hearts and prayers are with our citizens along the Gulf Coast."
(Liberals love Cindy, but real Americans like me most.)

"We know that many are anxious to return to their homes."
(The Peace Mom's supporters look like garden gnomes.)

"{We're}working side-by-side to get people back on their feet."
(I sure loved drinkin' bourbon when I went to Bourbon Street.)

"Good folks are going to need help and compassion and prayers."
(All our money's in Iraq, I can't help 'em with repairs.)

To the above comment:
How can you explain Bush's lack of intelligence and leadership?

Placing blame is easy: why not find the problems and work on solutions. No matter WHO is in office, there will be mistakes and people who look back to say how much better THEY could have done. Mr. Bush is STILL our president and (I believe) doing his best.

You are angry and entitled to express it, though I can't tell if you had any direct loss from the storm.

Stop being so angry with each other! I personally agree with the criticism of our so-called leader, I wish I could do something about it, make it better... However I do know we shouldn't tear each other apart, worse than government or mother nature already does...

i love it. i think it's great and you should send it to him.

You took some negative criticism for this poem. I don't entirely agree with what was said. We can't put all the blame on President Bush for compounding this tragedy as others share in it. But as our President, he could have done more and much quicker. My son was a Marine in Iraq. We got troops and aid there faster than to New Orleans! Go figure! Your poem may be opinionated but it has humor and a degree of validity.

To this creep Tony again. Please stop writting stupid poems, so I can stop commenting. By the way did you even vote in the last election for president. Jerk!!!

Looks like Bush's last two supporters are on here pestering Tony because they can't deal with the sickening nagging feeling that they voted for a moron and ruined America and none of our cities are safe.

Or maybe it's just some poor slob intern PAID to act all indignant.

Whichever it is, sorry to inform you that Tony is read by millions. His poems are published, didn't you know?

Cute Tony! At least you have the courage to tell it like it is!
